The most distinguishing feature of this battle is the eliteness of the SPQR contingent, comprised of only 16 units. The initial skirmish is pretty even, slightly favouring the SPQR over the Aedui; however the melee overturns the odds and the Roman army is annihilated, while the Makedones are so badly crippled in the infantry compartment that the cavalry is not sufficient to carry the day. A thrilling battle with good play on all sides. Some episodes of pike turning, though.
